Twitter has made a request of a third party app. Reading the post it makes a statement that this service implies that the value of twitter is in the number of followers. I find this statement a contradictory one.

There are many people that use the service in this way and that is by their choice, however is twitter trying to dictate how people should use their service? I have a blog post I am preparing but you can follow the discussion that Mark Davidson and I had on twitter.

I would say there is probably more to this story that hasn\'t been revealed as of yet. I am also interested to know how could you have a story by Vanity Fair "America's Tweethearts" and others if the number of followers weren\'t the key to the stories?
