Twitter Brings Shovels and a Mayor for a Snowed in Dad
Twitter can cause quite stir for many reasons but it's usually when it's to blame for flash mobs or because a planned by twitter snow ball fight on 14th and Ust in Washington D.C. resulted in a conflict with an off duty cop that people take notice.
Some people will ask for simple things like a cup of coffee as a fellow twitterer @shannonrenee decided to ask for one day. I've been at conferences where twitter was used to bring cookies and coffee to the over flow room.
However, in Newwark N.J. @Bigsixxraven used twitter to ask her Mayor, @Corybooker , to help her snowed in 65 year old dad, who was planning to shovel the snow himself. Cory Booker replies with in minutes.
He shows up with volunteers and shovels the snow for a constituent. Is twitter the doing these great things? Not at all, it's to access to people that makes things happen. Twitter is one of many social media tools that allows that one-to-one accessibility.
