professional snapshot
My recent work includes digital/new media strategy, trends and project management including transitions for organizations from web version one to Web 2.0 applications.
I have been instructing, training and educating individuals, organization and small businesses in technology and web tools since the 90's. I've worked with small and large groups as well as one-one personal training.
In my early years I've built BBS boards, provided tech support, built and sold PC's, supported networks and was one of the few women of color coding html websites. (there were no books, classes, or wysiwyg editors)
As an author, I've written research reports, articles, chapters in books, and of course blogs.
My Passion:
For years I used to write this:
"To assist in analyzing and developing technology that is focused on human -computer experiences and interactions. Focusing on the societal implications of technology developments and responsibilities."
What was that! Wait!
What I was saying in plain english:
Technology design for decades has been designed from technology's point of view. I always felt it was a mistake. It should have been designed based on the human algorithms first, technology second. Social media is the technology example of how the "human" element is given a little more preference in the design of social software. We have only begun to crawl down that path.
I've been working on how technology is integrated into the lives of diverse communities for over a decade. Now I am interested in technology behavior and use based on who designs it and which communities/networks use it, how often and why.
I will always:
- speak about society and technology design. (including women and WoC in Tech)
- use my experience in media, technology and politics.
- provide technology training and education to individuals, businesses and organizations.
